Make up has become a ritual for many women but i doubt that many of them know about what they are acually putting on their face. Mascara is made from bat guano, its used to thicken and give shine to the mascara . Bat guano is also used in some shampoos and nail varnishes. Blubber from sperm whales are used for lip glosses as it is the perfect substance because of its oily shine waxy texture sperm whales are found in oceans world wide. New Zealand and off the coast of Kaikoura are one of the best spots to see sperm whales.
In some lipsticks and eye shadows you may find an ingredient called pearl essence or pearlecsense i was under the impression that it was from pearls but it was in fact from fish scales to give a shimmer affect.Animals are not only used in make up but they are also used to test the make up aswell.
On some make up packages it may say "may cause eye irritation" but how do they know this? It is because they have probably tested it on an animal, in many in fact most cases animal testing is cruel and distressing and painful for the animal.There is make up availeable that are free from animal testing if you feel strongly against the invovlement of animals in make up.
